I have a p3 500mhz M700 Compaq on the way and I was wondering if there is any way to upgrade the prosessor without having to get a new motherboard and is the work that would be involved worth it? Also if there is any way to upgrade the video? and is PC100 the only ram that I can install? I just bought this laptop as a tide me over till I can come up with bigger bucks to get something a little nicer got this one for a steal at $180 w/dvd and 20gig hdd but only 128mb ram

I think you are SOL with the processor and video upgrades but PC133 notebook RAM should be backwards compatible. Not a bad price if it satisfies your requirements, for now 🙂
