Compaq laptop won't accept charge

I have a walmart special CQ50 laptop I bought last year that will no longer accept the power supply. Battery is now dead and when I hit the on button the charge light just flashes. The PS charge light on the side no longer lights up either.
I checked the voltage from the PS and it's showing good at 18.5vdc. I pulled the dc jack out and checked for power/ground and it was also good. A ordered a jack just incase.
I pulled the mobo out and the power pins/solder are in good condition.
Is there anything else I can do?

if it was bought last year so the warranty should be good?

It's fresh outta warranty.

dont tell me you didnt buy in store warranty that will extend 2 or more years.
