Compaq Laptop Touchpad / mouse problem

I finally took of the win install on my compaq 1247 presario. Did total reinstall and every thing works awesome except....

When I plug a mouse into the ps2 port before it would disable the touchpad. I could use the wheel on my Mouse (logitech basic wheel OEM) I reinstalled synaptics driver form compaq and synaptics and the touch pad is still active and I can't use the wheel. any help would be greatly appreciated.
