I'm working on an old COmpaq laptop (repair) its symptoms are thus, it miscelenously shut's off when adjusting the lid, and sometimes when you hit the floppy button.

I removed the top cover, and began rocking the lid while I watched, and noted what was moving with the lid. Then I started wacking indiscrimintly (yet tenderlY) with a small screwdriver, the edges of boards, and parts, to see if something was shorting out. Then I hit (literaly) the jackpot, striking the psu section (it takes in full 120 AC or 18v dc) it shut off. Then i tried carefully wiggling the psu and found that when I push it down a bit, it hit's something, and dies. so now should i remover the psu section, and try to put some insulating layer around whatever it is shorting against?
