Compaq Laptop keeps powering off

My compaq laptop keeps powering off. It will not power up without the battery in it at all as my Dell does. It also doest power up unless I remove and replace the battery. I brought it to the store and he said the battery is fine.....My guess is either bad battery or is there something else it could be....??? The battery also seems to charge while the computer is on and is at about 73%.... Also should the laptop power up with the battery missing, using tjust the PS...

Is there an internal PS or is it part of the MB ...any help at all would be greatly appreciated ...Im lost on this one ...and i have only built Desktops ..never a laptop...

There are several possibilities as to the problem, all requiring the system to be opened.

1. A bad DC-DC converter board
2. A loose or damaged battery connector board (especially if using the 12-cell battery)
3. A loose or damaged power connector board

I'll bet on #2. Replacements are available on eBay (approx $5)
