I recently picked up a used Compaq 1592DMT from my dads office. Here's the specs if it matters, I suppose not but, 233, 3.2gig, 32megs, 12.1TFT, Li-Ion. Anyways, in both win95 and win98 every once and a while the screen just goes zoink and fades to white, I know everything is working behind because I can still do stuff, like change music tracks and such, however the screen is just this hazy white. If I go into stanby and then come back its fine, or if I shut down and turn the computer it is fine, sometimes it happens agian but if you reset a couple of times it works fine. Doesn anyone have any ideas, hopefully this isn't a huge problem? Somebody...

Make sure your display settings are correct (proper video card criver and monitor type selected) and set the vertical refresh rate to 60Hz.

Had a problem that seems the same with one of my lappys and it turns out the video settings were slightly outside spec. It would work for a random while, then the screen would just turn white, but not hang the machine. Adjusting the display properties fixed the problem.

Or maybe you have a failing inverter board (that's what supplies power to the LCD), in which case you are probably hosed. It would be cheaper to buy a new (or different used) laptop than to fix it.
