hey guys.. A friend of mine with a 2 year old compaq (presario 5716) wanted me to install more memory and a new HD.. so I got himsome crucial memory and IBM GXP 60 HD.. both installations went without problems, and installed Windows ME from scratch on his new drive and the performance increase was awesome.. Now, I've seen this kind of problem come up before, but have never been able to find out a reason why it occurs or what can be done to fix it, and that is when I shut down, or restart (or a program needs to restart the computer) and i hit ok, it goes to a black screen and shows a blinking cursor, and will not restart or shutdown unless i manually hold the power button in for 5 seconds to power it down. This isn't a critical issue, but definately an annoying one and I would like to fix this so he doesn't have to monkey around to shut down or restart. Thanks for any help you can provide.
