I swear they are, I have a Compaq Presario 7599 that came with an IJ750 Printer. When I upgraded my o/s to Windows XP Professional, my printer wouldn't work anymore. I went to their website hoping to find XP drivers but nope, they don't have them. I think I remembered reading something like they aren't going to plan to make XP drivers anytime soon. What kind of crap is that??? Am I going to have to get a new printer or something? Grrrr!!!!

Also, according to the XP HCL, XP comes with a driver for that printer.

For desktops, we only use Compaq EVOs in our environment here at work and they are great for us in terms of support. Most can use the same image, tooless cases, stable systems... what more could you ask for?

edit: forgot about great support, that is always important 😉
 
Well maybe for those servers but not the one I have at least. If you go to their website and check to see if there's drivers for the IJ750, there is none. I find this very annoying!

compaq desktops are generally proprietry peices of shite, but they do make damn nice servers, and of course we shouldnt forget the palmtops

My experience with attempting to upgrade various kinds of Compaq desktops tells me that the ones intended for consumer use are totally proprietary pieces of sh!t, but the ones intended for business ("professional") use are generally not too bad. Most people swear by their servers, though I have never used one personally so I can't comment there. The ipaqs are cool, too.

The poor driver support is LEXMARK, not Compaq, they make the printer so blame them,
After years of retail i can say i ve seen more problems with lexmark and brother printer drivers than i have seen with anything else.
