Suddenly a wave of complains about Compaq's hot deal ( iPaq hanhelds ) became and issue, I think they are going down. They really need to come up with an upgrade otherwise sellings are going to drop, What do you think?
Personally? I think Compaq has sucked for years; hopefully the general population will come to agree with me - because I know the more informed people on this board do hehe (putting words into mouths!)
Actually, iPAQ sales will continue to skyrocket regardless of quality issues. Compaq can NOT make enough to meet demand and they are commanding about 9% of the total market share dwarfing other PocketPC's.
As for the quality issues, most have been addressed. The two that are still outstanding are dust under the screen (due to a hole between the stylus holder and the screen) and digitizer problems. I've heard that the latest revisions solve the dust problem. These problems don't affect everyone and I hope that I won't have the same problems when my unit arrives tomorrow.
i'm sorry, but as far as i've seen, the Ipaq is one of the best handheld PDA's out there, it's leaps and bounds above everything else except the Visor Prism,
OK Ladies and Gentlemen.
If you have a particular specific problem with a Compaq product - forward it to me.
I will be certain it is dealt with.
1. I am not part of Compaq's personal systems line.
2. Do not rant at me
3. If you have a legitimate beef and need it aired through corporate channels - contact me.
The place where I work does support for the Presario line. They have improved these computers from proprietary units to actual standards based, off the shelf system board (most of them anyway) setups. Very little is integrated anymore short of the cheapest units with integrated video and integrated sound on the rest (all controllable via BIOS settings). You can't truly say Compaq sucks if you've never worked with their servers (and used Server support, those guys get the job done) and/or used the Deskpro line of Compaq computers.
