compaq internet keys on keyboard help

hey guys.. a friend of mine has a compaq, and I recently just installed a new harddrive (IBM 60GXP) and installed windows ME on it from scratch. Pretty much everything has gone perfect, except for a couple minor issues.. The one my friend is most wanting to get working again are the internet keys on the top of his keyboard.. with the new OS installed.. they don't do anything.. I downloaded the fix from compaq's site for his machine.. I'm guessing you need to install some kind of compaq software for it to work? anyone know about where I can find it?
