Compaq Evo laptop and Wireless LAN W200 Add-On

The non-profit that I work for received a donation of 19 Evo 610c laptops, each with these Compaq Wireless LAN W200's bolted to the lid.

Thus far 3 of the first 5 laptops haven't had working W200's on them, and I'm wondering if it's me. Is anyone here familiar with these adaptors? Is the only button on them some sort of power button? The ones that did work just fired right up without pushing the button, and the ones that didn't work didn't power up. Is there some other way to power up these adaptors?

I'm having a hard time believing that I've got a 60% failure rate on these things, so any help offered would be greatly appreciated.

Don't worry about the button on the W200 card, just hit FN+F2 on the keyboard and you'll see a light turn on on the W200 card. You are now WiFi enabled. 😉 (Just make sure you've installed your W200 drivers)

Good bit of info on that keystroke sequence, but it's sadly not affecting those that weren't working to begin with. Everything is enabled in the BIOS, too...may have to do more poking around.

Thanks for the suggestion, though

Have you tried using a card that's not working on a mahine that is working. That way you can rule out if the card is the actual problem. They're very easy to swap out.
