I swapped a compaq DVD player out of a Presario 5660 that was running WIN98. After installing it into my system, i receive a BSOD after my desktop loads. The drive itself works fine under WIN2K but I dont have any software for DVD playback. I have installed the WIN98 playback software as well.

Find this file Scsi1hlp.vxd and rename it to Scsi1hlp.old. Restart your computer.

Should fix it.

Dont do that if you have any SCSI devices.
