I'm looking to speed up my girlfriend's Compaq Presario which has a 300mhz slot 1 Celeron. I am wondering if anybody knows whether or not I would be able to use a slocket adapter for an FCPGA Celeron, or something similar so that I can put a 533 or higher in it. I've checked Compaq's website but they don't realy tell you much because they'd rather have you buy a new computer from them than upgrade your existing pc. I know you are all thinking screw the Compaq and get a whole new board etc, but I'm hoping to spend under a 100 bucks on this altogether and slapping a slocket and chip in there would be a lot easier than reworking the system. So, anybody tried this?
