Compaq Armada 1571DM laptop won't give me a display...

I know it's getting power, the green light indicating the battery charging comes on so the power supply/cord is not the problem. In my experience with desktops, something like that is almost always related to the video card. But I have no experience whatsoever with laptops, don't even know where the video card would be, unless it's integrated into the motherboard.

What can I do to troubleshoot?

Yes, it is integrated.

Have you toggled through all the LCD LCD/Monitor and Monitor only options. It's usually a function key and one of the f keys up top on the keyboard...
