Does anyone have any good or bad comments about this laptop? Is a duron chip good? Sorry for lack of knowledge, but I need to buy a laptop, and have no idea what's a good deal anymore...=( TIA

This isn't too bad of a deal for a laptop. However the AMD mobile chips tend to run much hotter and consume more power than the Intels. I just got a Compaq laptop during one of the business Tuesday specials and if it weren't for the price I would have never bought a Compaq. Their CS reps are rude and don't know jack. However their technical support seems to be a bit better.

I have an HP laptop that is almost identical to the Compaq - the Pavilion N5415. It also has a 900 MHz Duron. I'm very happy with it. Yes, it does run hot, but no worse than the 700 MHz P3 laptop I used to have. I get between 2 and 3 hours of battery life depending on what I'm doing.
