Here is my siutation:

Few days ago, my Compaq 1400 (model 14XL244) was working prefectly. Out of the blue one day, it froze during bootup, didn't get pass BIOS. The soft power swtich would not turn off the computer, no matter how long I held it for. My only solution was to take out the battery to turn it off. After that, I replaced the battery and the laptop would not power on again. The battery has a full charge. Even with just the AC adapter connected, they laptop still won't power on. When I have the battery inside the laptop and AC adapter connected, the battery icon on front will not light up. So I'm pretty much stuck...any help or suggestions will be great appreicated. All I can think of is get a new battery, but my battery worked fine. It still shows that it's 100% full according the self test on the battery. Please help!! Thanks

Its probably not the battery.

Did you add any RAM modules?
If so, you may want to reseat or remove them.

Also, a bad CMOS battery will cause the no power-on stituation.

Thanks a bunch, I'll check the CMOS battery. I did remove the memory module, but no luck.
