I did a format of my Compaq laptop, leaving the C: and D: partitions that compaq makes alone. I then install Windows ME. Would have done 2000, but I only have 32 megs of RAM
Anyway the computer is about 100x faster without all the compaq crap on the system. My only problem is when I boot the computer up if I press the ESC key to get rid of the COMPAQ logo to look at the boot up, I see a red box.
In this box it says something about the file save partition being too small and that the save feature is disabled.
I did not resize the paritions or delete any from the factory install. All I did was format C: and then install a fresh copy of Windows.
Does anyone know what might be causing this? it doesn't lock up the computer, etc... if I dont press the ESC key to look at the boot up I dont even know its happening.
Also would there be any risk in repartitioning the drive into one drive? it is currently in 2 partitions. (C: D
