Compaq 1270 Laptop LCD Screen Problems

Ok I have a Compaq 1270 laptop 🙁 I know its a Compaq...

Anyway it was bought in April of 1999 at best buy. When the laptop was bought a 3 year warrenty from Best buy was also purchased.

I have one dead pixel (green color) in my Laptop screen and one of the pads off the bottom of the laptop is gone. My question is should I take the laptop in and get the screen fixed?
I asked a guy at best buy one time and they said with my warrenty that they would replace it but it would have to be sent off for a couple weeks.
The dead pixel has been in the screen almost as long as I have owned the laptop and no more pixels have went bad. I use the laptop when I am not at home, but when I am home the laptop is hooked up to a KVM switch with my Sony 17 inch monitor.

Should I take the laptop in for repairs or just leave it as is. I dont want to get the laptop back and have a screen that is worse than the one I have.

Well, most LCD screens usually have 1, or 2 dead pixels in them when they are first made. The 14.1" TFT XGA LCD screen on my Compaq Armada M700 has 2 dead pixels although they are black(not green like yours). One is in the a corner and is not even noticeable and the other is only noticeable on bright backgrounds, so they don't really bother me too much. I only use the LCD screen when I am not at home. When I am home I have it hooked up to my IBM P96 19" FD Trinitron monitor. I'm sure I probably could send it in to Compaq to have the LCD screen, but since it doesn't really bother me that much I haven't bothered with it. I still have over 2 years left on the warranty from Compaq, so there is no hurry.🙂

I've only heard bad things about those Compaq Presario laptops. Armada's on the other hand seem to be pretty good, though.🙂

You may want to get it replaced anyway, since your warranty will end in April of 2002, and that is less than a year away. It really is up to you, though.
