It's a laptop but it is "ok"

Duo Core 1.8ghz
1GB Ram
Geforce 7800 Overclocked to 350/850

I can barely run this thing on 1280x720

Is this game for the people who have the high end systems?

Call of Duty 2?

The DX9 renderer is a terrible port from console I think. Switch to the DX7 renderer in the options and you'll get much better frames without too much less detail.

You need more RAM, 1.5GB is good enough, but there is a large improvement going from 1GB to more than 1GB.
(Based on personal experience going from AMD64/7800GT/1GB RAM to the same, but with 2GB RAM at 1280x1024)

That is very strange. That games runs pretty well on my much less capable system.

Much less capable system... with 2GB RAM (assuming it's the one in your sig) :p

A friend's kid was trying to play the game on a Barton 2.2 GHz, 6800 GT, and 1gb RAM.
It was hitting the hard drive constantly, and stuttered quite a bit. We took 1gb out of his other pc and added it to the Barton, and it ran great. I foresee a lot of hard drives dying because of this game. :)

although i don't see hdds dying because of this game  (they are meant to be written to and read from) the game definately needs 2GB for at least 1280x1024. with rig in sig an settings all on high i ususally hit ~1.3GB for the game

2GB's is a must with this game for higher resolutions.

I have a little RAM usage bar on my G15 keyboard. Often gets, I'm gonna say, 85-90% filled (includes Windows).
Rig in sig.

To make hero plural, you have to add an "es" to the end of it. So it would be Heroes. :p

The biggest problems with RTS games is ram and video ram, if you're playing a game with 128MB video ram prepare for choppy city. I noticed when I went from my old GF 6800 GT with only 128MB of RAM (I got the ASUS special "GT"). That it removed an enormous amount of bottlenecks. With my Geforce 8800 every game I have runs perfectly smooth on my new Core 2 duo with and an 8800, with either 1GB or 2GB of ram, it doesn't matter.

I would also have to recommend more RAM. Going from 1GB to 2GB worked wonders - and that's with my E6400 at default clocks. In my experience, changing graphics settings didn't have nearly as much of an effect.

2GB of RAm makes all the difference in the world. Try an upgrade.

try to run bf2 with 1GB of ram max settings @ 1280x1024 or higher and let me know how smooth it is....unless it loads a lot of stuff into the vram it will be very choppy. i am actually quite curious to see your outcome if you can do this test.
