Maybe there will be a patch or hack to allow the population limit to be raised? I remember in Total Annihilation you edited the 'ta.ini' file to bump the units over the default limit.

there is already a trainer out that allows this..
this game is amazing..

best rts ive ever played.

it is very very very good, i just cant for the life of me figure out how to even come close to beating the computer in a skirmish

same here bro i had to use the trainer.. and even then it was a hell of a fight..

Is it just me or is there no way to change the controls.. I dont like using the arrow keys to move around., and would rather use WSAD but I cant find anywhere to change them!

i have been playing skirmish with 2 computer players on my side and 3 on the other. The computer is actually pretty good at finding holes in your defenses and exploiting them.

I have given up trying the secure a base and expand strategy because the computer always finds a way to break your base. May as well use the resources to build nominal defensea and offensive units to take to the enemy.

Usually a few good MG implacements, a motor team or two, and anti-tank gun crews could stay off any attack long enough for you to counter.

I heard it has like 18 missions or something, but that each one takes a while to do.

Seemed more like 10 or 12. And yeah, they all take awhile. More like 10 maps and 20 missions.

awesome game.
started playing it last night. i'm in carentan now.
i think i need that trainer you guys are talking about because the unit limit sucks. i hate it when games impose that limit. even while playing the earlier missions, if my guys died, i couldn't reinforce because of the limit. didn't make sense, a guy dies so that should free up a spot right? nope.

Well I beat the game last night. I played for nearly 4 days straight. Last level is crazy hard. But damn fun.

This game has outstanding graphics (although the night 2 player skirmish has some graphics glitches on my end) and is definitely a challange.

I have to play skirmishes on easy or I can't win. Working on strategies. The enemy simply is overwhelming.

I haven't quite figured out how to use each unit. I'm also a bit unclear on how to properly use infantry since the enemy is very efficient at building armor which just reams my guys.

Best I figured in a skirmish is that infantry is better once you've got your economy rolling. Engineers are best at first. Then start pumping out vehicles. Best I've figured to take out the computer.

Once you've got an economy set up, infantry are good for diversions/flanking. Especially if you take the Infantry or Airborne tech tree. What I was doing last night was having 1 Engineer, 1 rifleman, and one group of airborne/rangers.
Engies for building/capping/defenses/mg emplacements
Rifleman for all purpose.
Rangers/Airborne for light vehicles and suppresion.

I'd take that group capping points and harrassment, leaving MG nests all over the map. Then used a main group of shermans, crocs and tank destroyers for smashing their base to hell.

Just takes some time to set up.

Just survive long enough to build up and you are square.

Best I've done is built about 5 engineer squads in the beinging and sent them out to cap flags. Don't fortify them at first. Then take the armor tree and build armored cars that can cap flags. This really hurts their infantry and rakes up points.

The problem then is that my flags aren't fortified and they come at me with MG squads and anti-tank guns. Still working on it.

Yea definitely dont fortify at first until you get more resources. Remember with MG squads and AT guns that it's easy to flank them. I've found the flamethrower upgrade is a MUST especially when they start throwing those MG squads and AT guns at you. Just remember, in this game you MUST think smart as a commander. Flanking, suppression, etc are extremely extremely important. The AI is smart but you can be smarter. the buildable MG nests are your best friends, especially in tight city streets, and ESPECIALLY in wide open fields. Just remember to make sure they are able to cover themselves.

Again it costs money but you MUST stay aggressive in this game.

Has anyone found a fast download link (preferably torrent) for the demo? I was getting no more than 50k/s on all of the links I've tried. Thanks to people getting useless torrents 24/7 on my network, I tend to get disconnected often and thus a HTTP/web download halts and I have to start over. So I like torrents for legal stuff stuff greater than 100-200mb, as long as they are reasonably fast.

I really wanna try out this game this weekend!

I've been hearing so many good things about it, and a good RTS interests me a lot, I almost wanna go to Walmart and drop the $50 instead of waiting for a demo download then end up buying it anyway. Perhaps if I finish my remaining Fortran and MIPS programs in the next few days I could reward myself with the game. :)

Just buy it!!!! ;) Trust me it's worth it!

Hell the opening 2 levels and cinematics for each make it worth the purchase

I started this last night and it's pretty good, at least the first few missions.

I got to the Montebourg map and it's starting to not be fun anymore. I was ok with it as long as I can move a front forward but now enemy tanks magically spawn behind you and start taking points. I'm not sure I can deal with that. You need to keep your HQ so I ended up rescuing Dog Company and retreating back to reinforce, I had all the lines covered and started slowly pushing forward only to find a Panzer attacking my HQ?!!??

Update to the 1.2 patch!

It fixes the SLI performance issue.

I get 35avg with a 7950GX2 with the same settings.

I'm wondering the same thing. I would like to host this at a lan for a small group 3-4 people but would like to have the choice to assign different teams (mixes of computer and human opponents like in Empire Earth). Does anyone know if this is possible? Haven't bought the game, will probably buy it if this is an option.

i really enjoyed the beginning missions. once they introduced the vehicles, i thought it really went downhill. some of the later missions really get hard. the enemy is extremely unforgiving.

I kind of liked the fact that it was challenging, and I finished on expert.

My biggest gripe was the bad path-finding/bounding box for the vehicles, where they clip through each other and get stuck.

This game requires a lot of micromanagement for each unit and it does get to be a bit much at certain points. I found the pause button to be invaluable later in the game. Without pausing every 30 seconds or so, I would have never been able to finish the later levels, especially hill 317.

All though the missions statement said the enemy would be flanking the road on that mission (off road reinforcements), it did make me nostalgic for command and conquer again. Though maybe im acting as a devils advocate, I hear this line all too often: the game was way to easy. So I have to give the game some credit for creating a challenge. Hill 317, the spawning tanks came from the two front corners. Basically all you had to do was set up a line of A-Ts and tank traps on road points before they arrived. You didn't even need the hill except for motor attacks.
