Company of Heroes

Greetings,

This game is awesome. However, I am having trouble playing it. It generally starts out perfectly fine at the beginning of a level. However, after 5-10 minutes artifacts start appearing on the screen and it finally degrades to this:

As you can see, can't really play the game at that point.

On a restart everything is yet again just fine, for at least a few minutes.

Any tips or ideas on what could be causing this? I have tried reinstalling my graphics card drivers.

System:

Windows XP (with all the current updates)
Athlon 64 3400+
1GB RAM
ATI Radeon 850xt (256mb)

Based upon you explanation it would appear that as the graphics card gets hotter performance degrades..a very obvious sign of either a malfunctioning cooling fan on the card or the memory on the card or the GPU is going belly up..if it where mine..remove the case panel and observe the graphics card cooling fan operation during use..is it running?...is it cruded up with dust and lint?..if it is running...clean the HS and fan and recheck operation...if it still is corrupted I would just replace the graphics card..you most likely have either some bad memory on it or the GPU is failing...but I would be verysure you are getting adequate cooling before I would replace it...also...after you clean the HS and fan you could get a graphics clocking tool and detune the memory and core a little and see if it fixes the problem. If detuning the card fixes the problem that would be a pretty obvious sign the card no longer is capable of operating at spec. setting ..a sure sign of either memory or GPU degridation...oh ya..before any of this...update your graphics drivers!!

You may want to try the patches that were released after the game
shipped before attributing the problem to hardware.

How about a little feedback on what you have or are going to do? I have Company of Heroes and dont have any video problems.

Sorry didn't get back. Was trying several things.

I think that it is a fault with the video card itself. I updated the video drivers, patched the game, cleaned out all dust (with air spray can), and still the same problem.

Good luck!! This does smell like a card problem. BTW..im running a 7600GT..2gb RAM..3800 AMD X2 proc.
