I'm In the market for a high-quality, mid-range 19" Flat-Screen CRT (Not the $1000 models CAD guys use) something around the ballpark of $300 would be sufficient I think. I've heard that Viewsonic makes some good ones but can anyone else recommend ones that they like/use/have heard good reviews of? I know alot of people are going to LCD but I can't give up CRT yet... Just too good of quality for a lower price. I don't mind the extra space/weight. So any suggestions and feedback much appriciated.

I have what was considered the best 17" flat CRT out there for a long time. I think it's still one of the top ones, and from what I see, no monitor comes close.

I have a Samsung SyncMaster 700NF. This is a natural flat screen with a hella thick glass panel that seems like bulletproof or whatever. Anyways, it does incredible refresh rates.

Reocmmended:
640x480 @ 120 Hz (Max 160)
800x600 @ 120 Hz (Max 140)
1024 x 768 @ 100 Hz (Max 120)
1280x1024 @ 85 Hz (Max 87).

Anyways, it owns. Syncmaster 900NF is pretty good too (19" version). The text is very clear. I hate my old 17" CRT.

I agree, if you're going for a CRT, get a refurbed 21" or higher. Then you'd still have an advantage over the mainstream LCDs today. Azatek.com is great!

I've never heard of Azatek... and a 21" SONY TRINITRON for 200 bucks with FREE SHIPPING is unheard off... Something HAS to be wrong with that thing. I'm very skeptical. Any of you bought from Azatek before?

Make sure to get one with DVI. The one I got lets you have both DVI and VGA input at the same time and you'd switch between them with a switch.

yea I'm looking at this model... but I don't believe it lol... my mind is telling DO NOT believe it.. its all lies and gov't conspiracies :p These guys legit? Is there stuff of pretty good stock? I dont want to buy a monitor and have it be at the end of its lifecycle when I get it and have it crap out on me couple months down the line... how can you tell how long these have been used for?

remember, these are refurbs

stuff that offices got rid of because they wanted LCDs (since LCD use less power and desktop space)

I'm pretty happy with my Viewsonic G75F+B. It has a max res of 16x12 which is pretty rare on a 17". Better than that though is the fact that it can pull off a refresh rate of 75Hz at 12x10. When I was researching monitors, this model was one of the very few which could do so. This monitor also has "Ultra-brite" technology where you can automatically adjust the monitor brightness to a few presets at the touch of a button. I haven't found that very useful yet though.

I went to resellerratings.com about azatek and the reviews are pretty mixed... one or two might say satisfied but then you're almost guaranteed the next one will be dissatisfied or very... I'm not sure if I want to deal with that type of mixed bag.
