Anyone know any companies that will buy used hardware? We've consolidate our 3 buildings across the US into 1 and we now have a few backup drives we no longer need. We have a Tandberg TDS 1420 (20 tape SLR changer), 2 SDLT220 drives, 1 HP SureStore 8 DLT7000 changer, and an Seagate AIT 4 tape changer. Were looking to unload all this stuff and was wondering if there is a place that buys used equipment like this.

I would donate it to a non-profit organization and write it off. Any large non-profit that collects a lot of data could use the DLT changer as a backup device. Another way to go would be to ebay it.

My company is hoping to make some cash off the sale of this hardware so they won't want to donate it. I thought about donating it to a non-profit organization but they wouldn't go for it.

Check your local yellow pages - here in Tucson we have a couple of places that make that their business. The one I know is Computer Renaissance.

Used Stuff

Giving away to non-profits is still your best bet. Your tax deductions would be greater than any cash received.
