I'm looking for a compact point-and-shoot digital camera *that also takes good quality video clips*.

I already have an SLR, but the SLR is too bulky to carry around all the time. I need something that I can stuff in a pocket when I'm hiking and carry around to work events to take video clips and quick shots with.

Something that's not $$$$$$$ would be preferable.

Suggestions?

HD would be nice, but it's not a requirement. I'll take a look at that, thanks. Other suggestions?

Panasonic FX37. HD video, tiny form factor, you can get it for 250 bucks (less than the Canon mentioned). In fact right now there's a good deal on refurbed ones from BH

It has great image quality, according to most. The canon mentioned doesn't.

You just can't cram 15 MP into a P&S, in my opinion.

edit: Just saw the Canon is only 299, not 399 like I thought. The Panny is still cheaper and better IMHO
