Compact Mid Ranged Gaming rig....?

OK,

I am starting to do some tech fishing again, but I would like to know what waters would be best to start casting in.

What I am looking for is a compact form factor for a gaming rid in the mid range (~$1000).

I am looking for something on the same size scale as the Shutle that has a PS (or can hold one) that would be able to hold/power a decent vid card, optical drive, hard drive and possibly a boot SSD. (if in the right $$$).

Any suggestions along this line would be welcomed.

Equipment that can be frankensteined, if neccessary, are a 500G 7200 RPM Seagate Drive, KB, Mouse, USB Sound, two monitors... I am not sure it is worth saving 3+ year old memory.

Again, any suggestions are welcome!

Pair this Silverstone SG case up with a 775 or 1156 mini-ITX motherboard and a Radeon 6850 or nvidia GTX 460 1GB:

This.

The included 450W PSU is a standard SFX size so replacements are available (though nothing as good as what is included). The case has around 10" of space for a dual slot graphics card. This means if the PCIe power cables are at the end of the card, you're limited to around 9.5", which is perfect for a card like the two that DaveSimmons mentioned.

The case holds one slim optical drive (same as a notebook drive), one 3.5" hard drive and one 2.5" hard drive or SSD.

Sounds like a good combo!

With the Turtle Beach surround headphones (USB) I have, there is not much more I need in a system, although the board he sights probably has onboard sound (I will do more than a skim later).

Just to make things quick, has he tagged an entire layout or are the Micro ATX's something I will have to do a bit more research on....?

-THX!

This is a mini-ITX case not micro-ATX -- the motherboards needed are much smaller and are not interchangeable with micro-ATX.

Ah, found it.

Zap, Thank you with the help on the other thread, I may simply copy some of the post recommendations from the new thread and post them here (Or maybe a mod can just stick the newer one on the end of this one?)

Silverstone still the way to go?

Same gaming cards recommended?

Tanx!
