Can someone explain to me the difference between type I and II compact flash cards? Is one better than the other? How about brands? Are they all pretty much equal?

Thank you,

Jason

Type II uses more power, is 1 mm thicker, and supports up to 4 gb i think. Type I only supports up to 2 gb.

With that out of the way, can someone suggest a good/reputible/quality brand of card and card reader?

Any cheap $5 card reader will do. I think any brand except Sandisk would be reliable. I've been using some generic 128mb card in my camera for the past 3 years. It has probably gone through at least 500 rewrites and is still going strong.

Sandisk Ultra II's are some of the best cards on the market.

I'd recommend Viking, Lexmark, Kingston, Sandisk Ultra II.
