IF you have an hhgregg store nearby and IF you need a basic DVD player for a kid's room or as a backup or such and IF you don't mind mail-in rebates...

hhgregg is going to have a compact DVD player for $9.62 after MIR Feb 3-5. Pic in ad says models may vary, but the pic looks like this one.

id rather go with a 20$ unit that plays xvid personally. no idea what hhgregg store is but 10 bux is pretty cheap (specially if the remote comes with battery's ((if it has a remote)) )

Buyer beware, there is something very odd about HHGregg. This may be a bait and switch or a rebate that will never come. I know co-workers that have gone into HHGregg for sale items only to find they don't have any but get shown something similar.

Haven't seen an xvid-capable DVD player for $20 either online or in a national B&M though. Otherwise, that'd be the way to go.
