Comp Wont Turn On

Ok heres the problem. A week ago when i got home my computer would not turn on and my family said that they had smelt a slight burning smell in there so I immediately figured the power supply had burned out. Now I just installed a new power supply and the led lights on the motherboard and cd rom drive light up now but nothing happens when I press the power button. I'm thinking that its the connection from the power button to the motheboard but the connections look right. Can anyone please help me out? Im dying here.

if you have a PWS tester, use that to verify the pws. the old one may not have been the problem if a new one works.

i would inspect all the capacitors on the board (tall cylinders) and see if any are popped on the top or have a crusty appearance. if you see that you need a new mobo.

also make sure that you flipped the lil switch on the back of the powersupply to the ON state
