Comp wont' detect CDrom or CDRW

The title says it all. My computer had crashed a few times a few weeks back due to a pesty little virus that i cleaned out. I did not realize it then, but i believe the comp failed to detect my CDrom and CDRW after the crashes. What should i do? I'm running WINXP on a 1.2 ghz athlon 512 rdram...etc.

I had the same problem. Really pissed me off that I couldn't fix it. Fially found the fix today.

Here is the link to the fix. Hope you know your way around your registry a little.

Microsoft cd fix

only delete the value for the upper and lower filters
