newegg >>*

for b&m, Circuit City ranks up there with price matching, while comp USA should be on the bottom of the list. It really depends on what you plan on buying, though

I've found some good deals at local mom'n'pop shops. One of the benefits of buying locally is the ability to take the product back and complain in person.

But I order a lot of stuff from newegg too.

Fry's makes me want to go on a horrendous killing spree everytime I walk in the door. Lunging about, screeching and lashing Fry's employees with the velvet ropes of their Customer Service line, laughing as the clip on tie clad weenies run crying from my wrath. I wield an off the shelf power supply like a morning star, striking a dweeb in the face. I jam a DIMM into one's eye, screaming "Here's a performance gaurantee!"

It basically ends in me walking away from a pile of rubble, sweaty and breathing heavily.

Our bestbuy and cc are both pretty small. No frys or compusa here.
The local store is pretty bad with prices. You can almost calculate exactly 15% over what Newegg has on everything, and then add the 8.25% sales tax.
They'll do in a pinch, but otherwise I try to stay out of there. I'd like to support locally owned businesses, but anyone who doesn't look for a value is a fool.

Nice setup newdealdak.

need more ram. I think CC which you have is running Kingston Value RAM for $68 for 512 with rebate. You can look through the packages until you find ones with Hynix BT-D43 chips, which are capable of 270MHz!!!

I personally prefer Newegg.
Impress with the speed of shipping. Customer service.. well, sending e-mails don't seem to work that well. But calling should do the trick.

Newegg here too, or CompUSA in a pinch. If I just need a cable or something, there is a local shop 5 minutes from my house, but they have to rape you on the prices to make any money. They probably shop at Newegg too :D

I'd rank Newegg over CompUSA and CircuitCity in terms of reliability, price (for the most part), and service. The only problem is, I can't help but notice that lately the prices of hot ticketed items like the x800 and 6800 cards have been inflated to crazy levels just like all the other online stores. At least the really large stores like CompUSA, BestBuy, CC, etc.. have stuck to the MSRP.

I guess Circuit City for me....of course, maybe that's because I work there.

I've always liked CompUSA, but the nearest one is an hour away, so I don't go often.

"The 550 Pentium II© System
For just $1299.99 Complete, this system is build for productivity. After looking at the price you wont believe it when you see what you get with this system."

Your right I don't believe it. There wasn't a PII 550Mhz.

CompUSA's return policy is terrible,only store credit,reguardless.

Circuit City isn't even geared toward computers, just consumer electrnoics...

You can get a refund as well (less the restocking fee on hardware). Best Buy has a better return policy, but doesn't stock as much computer stuff (at least the ones around here don't).

Yeah. The one near me is tiny, and doesn't even carry computer software!

Newegg is the best of those three in terms of prices, but if I had to pick a local store, it would probably be CompUSA. No Fry's or MicroCenter nearby (although MicroCenter isn't as competitive on price as they used to be)...
