I got around $400 to spend on a comp upgrade... my current comp right now is

AMD 64 3700+ san diego
1gb Ocz plat rev 2
Maxtor 200gb IDE 7200RPM 16mb cache
Sennheiser pc160 headphones
Kilpsch ProMedia 2.1 speakers
MSI neo4 skt 939
Thermaltake Soprano (black)
Thermaltake 430w psu (came with case)
XfX 6800gt pci-e w/ stock cooling
Logitech mx518
Dell 17" DVI ultrasharp LCD

i was thinking about getting:

A) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16829102188Creative X-Fi xtreme music
B) 19" LCD w/ DVI and 8ms>
C) New headphones:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16826106328HD280Pro or http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16826106392HD555
D)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16822144701WD 250g 16mb cache sata2
E) New Psu - i want a very quiet, modular psu that is 500+ like thishttp://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16817194003
F) another gig of ram

im really liking this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16824112176.... ive seen a lot of places that it has a refresh rate jittering problem but if u RMA it to sceptre theyll fix it

and i think im gonna get some quieter fans for my case also... i need 120mm and 92mm

The only thing I can suggest is another gig of RAM, and/or a 250GB Hard drive.

I would SERIOUSLY wait on buying a 10K+ HD, so much technology for HDs are coming out in the next few years or so, it's just not worth buying anything at this point.

The other upgrades you wanted just wouldn't be worth the money.

If you are having issues with noise, buy some noise reduction material and make sure everything is screwed in well so there is no vibration.

get a nice PSU, one that will carry you through next major upgrade. Seasonic 600 or some such. Nice quiet PSU's very stable and reliable. Another gb of RAM

The raptor range isn't that loud, but i'd put into the monitor, it's what you spend hours staring into...

Money spent on good monitors is never wasted, and it'll last for years.

I was looking at that sceptre monitor too. Weird ehh? I just finally said no cause i read so many bad reviews about it for gaming. I wouldnt recommend it but then again i have not personally tried it so. The samsung is beautiful!

Haha the reason we are looking at the same things is because they are the best for the money! You can sell that 6800GT on ebay pretty easily. There is a HUGE performance gain going to the 7800 series. I had the vanilla 6800 before and oh man.....No comparison.

Personally I'd just save up or buy a really nice monitor. If your sound is fine now no need to get a new sound card, and if yoyu aren't lagging at all in games, no need to get a new gpu. Maybe a new psu? but I wouldn't get a new one.

The short version is maybe ;)

If you game with headphones, I think that's the biggest reason to get one.
