comp restarts when i hook up digicam

i have a SONY P72 digital camera. the cable uses a USB connection to transfer pix to the comp. every other time i hook it up and turn the camera on, the comp blue screens for like half a sec then reboots by itself then freezes. its such a hassle to go thru all that just to transfer pictures. i remember hearing something about how a system with over 2 USBs become unstable so i thought that might be the cause since i had the keyboard and mouse using USB. i added the USB-PS2 adapter for my mouse to try and solve that problem but it still occurs. device manager says everything is fine. i dunno if it makes a difference but i have an MS natural keyboard which comes with 2 USB ports on the back. i use those ports to hook up my camera since its so much more convenient then running it from teh back of my comp. anybody have similar problems or know a fix? any help is appreciated. thanx!

A couple of thoughts

-Diable any antivirus software and try connecting camera.

-Have you updated your bios, motherboard drivers etc?

-Try reinstalling the usb root hub and drivers. Disable antivirus when doing this.

-Powersupply maybe running out of power when you connect camera. Try a ps/2 mouse or keyboard. Then connect camera directy to computer.
