Comp keeps saying files are corrupted

I just put the rig in my sig together last night, and it keeps saying that files are corrupted (mainly .exe files). Does anyone know what might be causing this? I tried two different types of ram, I lowered the speed of the CPU, raised ram voltage, raised CPU voltage, Tried 2 different HDDs, Reformatted 3 times on one of them, cleared CMOS, tried booting with just the essentials, set all ram timings to auto, moved ram from yellow to orange slots (with the ram in the yellow slots it wouldn't boot above DDR360). Could it be the mobo?

Ya, it could be the motherboard too. Hard to say for sure. Pretty much have to start testing everything if possible.

the mobo won't let me run the integrated memtest 🙁

Your memory is likely the culprit.

I memtested the ram in another comp and it worked perfectly fine. I also tried some of my old ram which I know worked fine (for 2 years), and it kept giving me errors.

Maybe the powersupply is not stable. If it is an Opteron are you using registered RAM? Does it require registerd RAM? If the CPU has the memory controller, then it might be the CPU. Of course it can be the motherboard also.

The PSU has 44A on the 12V rails, and is 500W. The 939 opterons don't need registered ram. For some reason I think it's the mobo, not the CPU.

Sorry, yes, your PSU may also be doing this. I actually just had a PSU ruin some files on a hard drive due to it failing.

are you sure? because the minimum power for 2 6800 Ultras and a FX-57 is 480W.

Use the bootable CD memtest -- your RAM running OK on another system does not mean it is running OK on this one.

Otherwise could be:
- PSU
- motherboard
- cables
- hard drive dying
- unstable overclock

and virus/trojan/spyware

Well I looked at the DFI-street forum and there is a TON of complaints that it doesn't work with PC-4000 ram and dual core procs. I guess it's the mobo.
