Comp keeps crashing

First of all, its not my comp, its a friend of mine.

He has a geforce ddr and a geforce 2 mx and has the same problems.

whenever he turns the graphics acceleration past the second notch, his comp will freeze in any game and just randomly. second notch and below everything works just fine.

does anybody have any ideas on what he can try?

and he has tried many many nvidia drivers and manuf drivers.
and he is using win98 first edition

Just a thought here - does he have any idea what temp the CPU, MoBo, and case are at when these lockups occur? And when you say graphics acceleration you are talking about the setting in control panel/display/settings/advanced/performance right?! What does his setup consist of? MoBo/CPU and also amount/type of RAM and P/S capabilities.
 
I have the problem computer. First of all i dont its a heat problem because i can start it up cold and about 30 seconds after boot up it will freez when the performance setting is higher than the second notch.
As for the rest of the hardware (takin this rite off the bill): MB VIAKT133 8KTA+ epox W\S
amd duron 750 processor and 384mb ram 133mhz its a big power supply i even tried using 2 to see if that was the prob. Thanks for your help.
 
Do you know what you r bios settings are? are you OCing at all. What timings are you using? How long have you had the machine before the poblem occured? What was the last change you did to the system before the problem occured?
