When i try to unlock the fourth core, the computer crashes at the "starting windows" screen and restarts. i am using an asus m4a785td-v evo mobo. i had a different mobo before, and unlocking the fourth core worked. can someone please give me some advice? thank you

Perhaps the 'core-unlocker' on the Asus mobo does not work as well as ACC on the other motherboard? <----Which was ... ?

How do you like the Asus, otherwise? Decent OC? How about temps and the BIOS?

I'm thinking of getting one ...

Well, what happened to the other motherboard? Are you sure it's the motherboard and not the CPU because those cores can be locked for a reason.

other than unlocking the core, i have not had a problem. i have my processor over clocked to 3.4 right now. the bios is easy to use. its a day old so i dont have much to say yet.

my other one was an Asus M4A77TD

i switched to this mobo because the other one did not have two graphics card slots

what are the benefits of unlocking the fourth core?

That depends on the apps you run.

For games: Very less benefits unless they are depended on CPU.
Ripping, Video editing, 3d rendering: About 20% increased performance.
For normal stuff like watching movies, browsing, spreadsheets: Zero benefits

depends, stuff like mass encode on foobar adds another 100% per core, since it spawns a thread per core.
handbrake also gets quite a boost from every core added.
if you time stretch h264 while doing other stuff like gaming. yea it will grind the cores. as ever, the more you throw at it, the more it matters.

When im on a website and I click on page 2 or next, it will reload the 1st page. This happens on every website and it doesn't matter what page i click on.

does anyone know which voltage to change?
I've found that the CPU-NB volts sometimes need a bump, but you shouldn't need to increase it by more than 100 mV. Get it stable with all cores at stock Mhz first, and then worry about overclocking.

How do i change the CPU-NB volts? I have the most recent version of the BIOS. There isnt an option for that exactly. there is a multiplier for cpu-nb though.

vcore = cpu voltage or maybe cpu core voltage in certain mbs, you should pull out your manual and start reading, get familiarized with the bios.
