Comodo no longer free?

I've been using Comodo antivirus exclusively for the last 6 years. I install it on my relatives laptops/computers routinely because I remembered it as being consistently rated the best in online reviews up until a few years ago (last time I checked.)

So this morning I wiped my wife's laptop and reinstalled Vista 64 bit. Went to the Comodo web site to download their antivirus and it looks like they changed the residential version from being "free" to being only a 30 day "trial."

So what's the best alternative? MSE?

I'd try out MSE. It seems to me that it's better than comodo also.

The only benefits of the pro version are live support plus limited compensation if the AV can't fix the problem(s). Otherwise the software functions the same.

I used Comodo for a short time, maybe a year or so back in 2008/2009 or so. It felt bloated as hell after some time so I stopped using it. Not sure if its gotten better in the last few years. I also recommend MSE.
