Comodo firewall and AOL kapersky AV updates

rasczak

Lifer
I'm having trouble getting my AV to update with my comodo firewall set to custom. I always have to select allow all traffic in order for the AV to update. can someone helpo me out and point me in the right direction? what i want to do is setup my firewall to allow inbound traffic for the kapersky av to update with out having to change any of the settings.

TIA, Joe

I'd try exiting Comodo first to see if it is the firewall causing the problem. If that solves the problem, then I'd go into the application control part of Comodo (after re-enabling it) and delete all the Kaspersky internet access controls and then allow them to be re-learned when kaspersky connects to the internet.

I do not think that it is Comodo, I think that AOL / Kaserpsky's servers are acting up:

This is what I am getting when I try to update AOL AVS and I am just using my router / Windows Firewall.

It may be a somewhat moving target question with comodo---as comodo has had two upgrades in the past two weeks. But with any firewall and troubleshooting---just shut it down for a brief period and that will by in large pin point if the problem is firewall related---and if a previously unavailable something is suddenly accessible---you pretty well know its something in the firewall.

thanks for the responses. I do turn it off in order to get the updates. this is the only way it will update for me. I've allowed all kapersky components access throught ht efirewall and I still get the failure to update while the firewall is up. when i allow all access, the the AV will update. kind of an annoying thing but I've lived with it so far, I just hope someone can come up with an answer as i have failed too thus far.

I actually just uninstalled Comodo and replaced it with ZoneAlarm. cpf.exe (component of Comodo) was using up tons of CPU for no reason. ZoneAlarm never gave me these problems, so I just went back to it.

I think there was also a thread about Kaspersky and Comodo on the Comodo support forums (stopped by there to see if there was a reason for the high CPU usage).

it is quite possible, but the issue only happens when I try to update while my firewall is active. when i turn off the firewall, or select allow all, i update just fine. something within the comodo firewall blocks the update feature.
