Community shocked to discover meat is made of animals...

The point is, he BOUGHT a rabbit and a GUINEA PIG (?) and then butchered and cooked them for his classmates. I'm sorry but the hunting part is very crucial to the "life skills" idea of making your own food. The kid sounds mildly disturbed.

The boy went to the Chardon store and purchased the Guinea pig and rabbit after coming up empty in the great outdoors

He merely didn't want to disappoint.

And I think the outrage is going to the wrong person. He actually used the animals he killed. How about all those countless of animals sold to owners who lost interest quickly or didn't know how to care for them.

nah, in mind mind he is incredibly genuis and has great problem solving skills. He will go far in life by thinking outside the box.

He had an assignment and he completed his task.

OK, very bad judgement by the boy here, but I agree that this is being over-hyped. The rabbit I can understand, but the guinnea pig is something he really should have seen causing problems.

If he does it himself its an outrage.

If he was able to purchase rabbit meat at the local deli all packaged up and prepared no one would have said something.

 but very typical... people like to eat meat but won't/hate to acknowledge where it comes from.

Well you have to look at this from the kids perspective. He had to prepare a meal for his class or he doesn't get a grade. He (unsuccessfully) tried to catch a rabbit, so instead of getting a failing grade, he found an alternative method of catching a rabbit.

Is it a strange to kill an animal from the pet store? Yes, but it was also a strange circumstance.

Unless this boy tortured this animal before he killed it, or wasted it by not using it for food (which he evidently did not waste it because the atricle said it was prepared) he did nothing legally or morally wrong.

If you fail as a hunter, buy your god damn food from a SUPERMARKET. What's wrong with TALKING to your teacher about your problem? He could've just explained that he didn't catch anything, and he was thinking of doing something else. Or he could've just bought packaged meat at a supermarket and prepared it, and let the class fill in the rest of the steps. (Didn't the teacher originally request that the animals be "properly dressed" before the presentation? Yes I think he did.)

especially if they put the cat in a box with radioactive material but don't check on the cat.

go figure.
😉

What kind of class is this where you actually have to catch your own food then cook it? When I was in highschool (2 years ago, boy do i feel cool saying this like im old), anyways When I was in highschool we had a materials fee of like $15 bucks and it covered everything you needed for an elective class...

well I can't very well check on your pussy lest I interfere with the experiment, Mr. Schrodinger.

Maybe he could have picked up some replicated meat from the local Star Trek food synthasizer
