Does anyone have a list of commonly used capacitor values?

I am constantly replaceing blown, or bulged caps on older motherboards. They are dirt cheap and are easy to change, however I never have the correct ones in my parts box.

Getting caps for boards and graphics cards is pretty easy but recapping power supplies now that will raise ones blood pressure. The three most common voltages is 6.3v,10v,and 16v. The newer the caps the better chances that you are getting high quality ones but avoid the supplier that EVGA used as they are terrible.

Badcaps.net lists the capacitors included in each of their motherboard repair kits, which should give you an idea of the common sizes needed.

For conventional electrolytics the capacitors that fail most often seem to be 1000uF @ 6.3V, 1800uF @ 16V, 1800uF @ 6.3V, 3300uF @ 6.3V. Watch physical sizes, especially diameters, but also height matters near card slots (1000uF @ 10V is often too tall to replace 1000uF @ 6.3V) and CPUs. Some CPU heatsink-fans use brackets that span only 12mm above the board.

A general rule of thumb in the repair business is that you'll never use the parts you stock but will always have to order what you need. Digikey can be good for small orders since they charge so little for shipments up to 8 oz.
