Common adware/worms/spyware

I am trying to figure out what applications are spyware/adware/worms, because I keep on getting unrelenting popups even with no web browser open. I am coming up with lists of explicity prohibited software. So far, this is what I have come up with:

? AWS Weatherbug
? HotBar
? Gator
? Comet Cursor
? OfferCompanion
? Bonzai Buddy (installs as a component of KaZaA)
? Any type of Peer-to-Peer File Sharing Software (KaZaA, BearShare, WinMX, eDonkey 2000)
? WebShots Desktop (installs NewDotNet, which is Adware)
? Brilliant Digital
? CommonName
? Trickler
? WebHancer

What else should I be looking for?

Run Adaware and Spybot Search & Destroy to find adware/spyware.

The popups sound like the messenger service, just disable or get a firewall.

You'd think that someone with over 5000 posts would know to read the FAQ or search...
