Sorry, I wasn't really into U.S politics until recenty. So what's the deal?

Ashcroft I know, but I doubt many people here know much on Don Evans.

Is it because of the economy/environment?

He was one of the people instrumental in raising money for Bush over the years to run in various campaigns, esp. the 2000 election.

The rumored replacements are Racicot and someone else who did a lot of fund-raising for this past election. I guess raising money for a Bush campaign qualifies someone to head up our country's Commerce Dept.
