My current video card is an aiw radeon, it could use a rma, and I'd need to send it in. So I'm thinking of getting a sapphire 9500 pro from newegg for $177.

I'm currently using 98se with hopes of eventually getting my 2k dualboot going again, I don't know how well the new card would work though, I'm still using older drivers becuase newer ones hardlocked and removed the old overlay gamma control that I need.

What kind of performance would I see from this card, compared to say a 9500? and of course how supported is the card in 98 to begin with?

;) The 9500PRO is a huge step up from the original Radeon that's for damn sure, esp the AIW Radeon as they tended to be lower clocked anyway. Support in Win98SE should be about as good as WinXP, ATI are much improved in the driver dept. If your CPU speed is decent the 9500PRO will fly, with a low CPU speed you should be able to use some of the untapped power by enabling MAXIMUM AA+AF with very little perf hit. Check any review of how an original Radeon compares to the cards out at the time and then how those cards compare to the newer ones like GF3/Rad8500 and then the Rad9500PRO. Here's something to go on...

After a quick read, wow! My video has been holding my system back for quite some time (the rig is updated for specs)

I'm planning on getting a clean reinstall of 98 (it may be required for this change) I haven't had much of an ability to play games anymore due to a combination of drivers and monitor darkness, but this may solve the first issue, hopefully it dosen't go out of stock soon.
