I'm not too crazy about that one in particular. Half of the image is black. :( Is that from the effect or is it the picture itself? Can you explain 'selenium tone'?

it looks like the sun is an error state of film development, rather than the center piece of the image.

A "selenium" tone?

Is that a real term? LOL

Selenium is a photographic chemical (toner) that is use to replace silver halide in fiber papers (less effective in resin coated papers) to prolong the life of the prints (archival process that prevent fading) during the bleaching process, and it inherit the brownish tone shift of selenium characteristic.

The colour shift of the OP image is a weak shift that can be correlates to RC paper bleaching or equivalent to incomplete bleaching fiber papers.

It's all right, I suppose. My biggest beef with it is that there's no "why" for the image. I'm sure that anyone that looks at it has seen that same scene dozens of times while walking around outside. In fact, I'd say that the selenium tone actually detracts from the natural beauty of the sun.

I, for one, like it, except I can see dithering or whatever it's called in the sky. The "selenium" tone gives it a bleak, rather lonely appearance that would be suited for the cover of an Opeth album.
