i am building my system for the following tasks

 1.
Video Editing

3ds Max rendering
the proposed system config. is as follows
AMD AtholnXP 2200+ ( 266 mhz FSB )
ASUS A7N8X Deluxe M/B ( 333mhz FSB )
512 MB DDR SDRAM 266Mhz ( 256 * 2 Dual DDR Bank )
80 GB Seagate UltraATA100 HDD ( Baracuda IV seriese )
and the Gainward card as AGP
is this config. right for me as i cannot afford CPU higher than 2200+.
how much will i gain by opting for Athol XP 2800+ ( 333 mhz bus ).
also what AGP is right for me for the above mentioned Applications. is the gainward card gamers oriented or is it sutiable for me.
if u can guide me on this issue or redirect me to some useful links having the said information.
thanks in advance
regards

Depending on how serious your Video Editing will be,
you would do better to go with SCSI (10,000/15,000 rpm)
drive setup. (if its in your budget)

What are you going to use to capture the video (capture card)?

oh very sorry i forgot to mention the AGP Card Details

its is Gainward GeForce 4 PowerPack! Ultra 750 / XP ViVo Golden Sample
its 128Mb DDR Ram - GF4 Ti4600se chipset card

so i will use this as capture card. its has this facility.

will this card help me in speeding up video compression operations. or should i opt for higher speed CPU.

Some things that might help:

More memory - probably the cheapest component and the one that will make the biggest difference for you.

Hard drive - sounds like your budget won't handle scsi so maybe investigate raid 0.

Processor - If you can get to that 333fsb it would probably help quite a bit... A faster processor might not make a huge difference but if you can get one on a 333 bus it should help a lot with your video editing. I'd probably sink money into memory and drives first though.
