comments on my new setup...any foreseen problems?

What do you think of this setup? I use my PC for designing (running multiple programs such as Photoshop, Golive, etc.) I listen to music and watch DVDs alot (via my projector) so good sound and image quality is a big factor. I'd like to hear some input if there are better options for certain items I've chosen, maybe if some are overkill for my needs, and most importantly if there are any compatibility issues with the brands I've chosen. Here it is....

mobo:foxconn nfpik8aa-8ekrs
i was debating the ASUS A8N-SLI & GIGABYTE GA-K8N as well but this one seemed to offer more features
cpu: amd x2 3800+
psu: seasonic 600w
sound card: creative x-fi platinum
video card: connect3D Radeon X800GTO
tv tuner: ATI Wonder Elite
should i top for a hdtv tuner instead? I chose the ATI elite because of the reviews online. Some might suggest the happauge is better i take it. Another note is should I opt for an AIW instead of these two? I don't plan on upgrading each individually but I'm told you'll get better performance in each area using seperate cards...true?
dvd: some "hot deal" which burns at 16x DL
I'm open to suggestions
lcd: some "hot deal" of a 21" screen
case: another lian-li
speakers: logitechs or klipsch?
I currently have the altec lansing 641's and have been really happy...but i'm looking for something more 😉
hdd: 400gb minimum
as usual, something from the hot deals
memory: 2gb memory (minimum) of crucial RAM.
2 gb should be enough right?

thanks in advance all!

haha thanks Rob80 🙂 ... I knew I was missing something and it just didnt hit me.

...ouch actually two things..left out memory too!

updating original post...

no takers on this? setup looks good? no issues?

...this setup is long overdue...i'm ready to start ordering the parts ASAP.

600W s12 is excesssive, get the 500W if you want the low noise, it'll be plenty for that system. (As in 2x the power you need, but the fan controller is better than the 430W version).

2GB is plenty, this is where you should save the pennies, look at the budget RAM roundup in the memory section above. A64s are very forgiving of cheap/slow RAM.

I'd pick your HD with more care if i were you, for noise go Samsung, for power go WD, for a good alrounder then Seagate is good and comes with a 5yr warranty.

What are the priorities here, noise, power, cost or warranty?

It looks good. Enjoy it.

thanks for the replies.

some concerns i have from the replies. i've read in other posts that 600w is the way to go...its what steered me away from trying to purchase another 500w antec. i guess it was a "seasonic power" thread or something. ...or maybe some other reasons which required the extra power.

as far as the RAM is concerned, i'm looking for quality RAM which will be compatible with most MOBOs I choose. opting for cheaper RAM seems like a gamble to me...no?

my priorities for the harddrive would be to get a great deal on a solid drive. noise isn't to much of factor considering i power it down when i sleep, yet i don't want somethign that sounds like a living room fan 🙂

i'd also like to address my conern with the foxconn mobo. i'm curious as to its reputation...my current board is an ASUS which i'm very happy with, however, as mentioned above the foxconn has more features for the price.

im surprised nobody brought up an issue with this mobo...thats a plus ;]

Ah, thanks for reminding me. I had meant to "bring up" the Foxconn in my fisrt post, but it slipped my mind. I wouldn't recomend it, simply because Foxconn isn't known for their quality. The Asus looks the best out of the ones you listed, but you might also consider the EPoX nF4 Ultra. It retails for about $100.
