One thing I recommend a better case/PSU. Antec makes some great cases/PSU's. I am sure some are close to the range you are looking to spend. Also I am not 100% sure, but you may be able to find a better deal on a video card. 150.00 seems a bit high for a 9700Pro. I thought I had seen used 9800Pros for like 160.00, but I may be wrong.

I recommend get an ATI Radeon 9700 Pro from the forums here for $125, get a used Seagate 120GB 7.2k RPM Hd for $60 around here, and at least get a 350W Antec PSU or use the money you saved with the 9700P and upgrade to an Antec Case so you have good quality case +psu.

Something like this maybe. I know its only a 300watt PSU. But a quality 300watt power supply is better then a non quality 430watt PSU. I am not saying the one you chose was poor quality, I don't know if they are or not. But that 300 watt antec should be plenty of power for you.

I need a black case, and I've heard bad things about stock PSU's that come with cases, so I wanted to buy one seperately. I wouldn't mind shelling out 80 or so total dollars for a PSU+Case, so if you could recommend me something reliable. I'm not sure 300w will be enough for the system that i have there.

I think I can pull for this one:

And I really don't want to get anything else used. This is my first build, and I'd rather not risk something being wrong because it is a broken product, and I could use the warranties that most products come with for at least a year. I just went with the used Video Card, because they are so expensive new. I might even swing for a new one in the end.

And as for the video card... that is eBay's "buy-it-now" price, so I can bid lower, and probably get one for 100 or so if I find the right deal, but that is the price that guarantees me one.

Wait for NF4, get a Wincester (overclock-a-riffic) and get a 6200 if you do'nt need much power or a 6600GT (180$) for 2x the graphics oomph.
You can get an "Aluminum ATX mini-server case" for 25$. With some paint and a cheap Plexiglass window (10$ @ home depot) you can make it into a nice case on a low budget. Coolmax has a 400W power supply for 36$ or so at NewEgg as well, which looks like a nice way to go.

I would wait for the nF4, but will that be 745s AMD compatible. I don't have much more leeway in price either, and the nF4 will be 200+. I tight for cash at the moment, and it doesnt even have a release date yet.

don't wait for tech item, if you start waiting, you'll see grey hair coming out of your head

i agree, $150 for 9700pro is too much, check forsale forum. 9800pro isn't much more

that antec case (2600) is not good, stock PSU, like you said, isn't recommended.

i recommend either 'sonata' or other case plus good PSU

check out www.mwave.com they have $19 case w/out PSU, the case is very good quality.

ibm sata hd is only $60 .. get it now. or you can go to outpost.com and get 120gb sata for $60 after rebate

It says it has 3 fans.

Yeah I'm not into flashy cases, they look immature, but for some reason I love the insides. Red is awesome. I like the inside on the MGE Viper case but the case sucks major on the outside.

If you like flashy cases the Atop Alien whatever its called I heard is a pretty good case. Aluminum, mirror paint finish, nice cooling, and comes with a 500w PSU. The front fan can be fitted with a 120mm fan I think.
