Comment about the media & terrorism

i've been watching coverage of the WTC and Pentagon on tv for about 30 straight hours now. i noticed two really bonehead comments, and was wondering if anyone caught on. first, after the airliner crashed into the pentagon, some idiot reporter said something like this "not to be sarcastic, but they hit the wrong side". so basically, if there were, god forbid, to be another attack on the pentagon, terrorist would now know which side to hit and cause the most damage. secondly, i was watching the news just now about the recovery of the black boxes from the four plane crashes. they said that the terrorist disabled the "thing" to allow towers to track the airplane's location, but they do not know if the terrorist was sophisticated enough to sabotage the circuit breaker to disable the black box. well, i guess if they didn't know about the circuit breaker before, they're gonna know about it now. thanx a lot u media morons.

As for both comments I believe any true terrorist would know these things. And I'd have to guess that these terrorists did, but they didn't care, they were dying anyways. No need to destroy a black box. As for the Pentagon, I believe that was pilot error, he hit the ground before it ran into the Pentagon.

But yes, the media drives me nuts. One person said on Tuesday when they heard that people were jumping out the building that "those people were jumping from the 80th story but they couldn't have survived, it's just too high"...as if everyone didn't know that.

Plus f**king NBC or ABC I don't remember actually showed a body tumbling to the ground. I only saw it once, but I saw it, and it was completely wrong.

But the Media will be the Media....whatcha gonna do?

In both instances, the information can be found. It has come to light that it's possible the Pentagon wasn't the original target and they probably just hit it anywhere.

i am pretty sure they have footage of many people jumping, but they editted the video. its just too horrible to show people plummeting off a flaming skyscrapper. and i am sure many people will be offended by that footage.

I think the reason they hit the side they did is because the Pentagon building is now believed to have been the secondary target. Whereas the White House was too difficult for them to see from the sky.

Didn't Mike Wallace interview Bin Laden not that long ago? Didn't think the question warranted another thread since this was already a media thread.

Heh, those supposed "secrets" there are like Intel telling people it's impossible to overlock processors, and dangerous. Gimme a break, anyone who wants to find out about them can, with a minimal amount of research.

do u know how many people don't know about oveclocking, much less how to overclock? i don't deny the fact that anyone can find out about the black box with a little bit of research, but broadcasting the fact that it is possible to disable it black box is a major bonehead move. in the past, i don't remember hearing about terrorist disabling the black box, but after the media questioning the terrorists' "sophistication", i'd bet the black box will be disabled more often.

Or how about all the reports on ways to "sneak" stuff by the airport metal detectors. Great. I hope they really beef up security before too long because everyone in the country and around the world now knows what to do and how to get around it.

My biggest complaint with the media was showing the people dancing in Palestine.. At the time they were showing it, we, the American people, didn't need to see it. And I really think that, amongst everything else, has started all of the anti-arab sentiment that has been flowing recently.

We were still in shock when they started showing pictures of children dancing, and we weren't ready to start processing that data. The news channels should have never shown those pictures until we were ready.
