I'm firewalled at work so I can't have my AIM here. I can telnet however to my remote Redhat box and do my personal things there. SSH, FTP, etc. Is there a way I can telnet to the box and access AIM? Command line Instant Messenger or through X Windows? But I can't load X from the terminal window. Any ideas?

there are a couple text based aim clients, tac and (i think) naim. look at freshmeat.net, search for text aim or something of that sort.

i used to use tac until i decided to ditch aim. also, i believe bitchx has an aim plugin (not surprising...its the emacs of irc clients! ;) :p)

oh...and are you logging in remotely using telnet?

First, drop telnet. Second BBWF named the two that I know of. I use tac most of the time. Pretty simple.
