command and conquer generals, realistic minimum requirements

anyways, i've got a laptop. the min requirements for C&C generals is a p3-800 and a 32mb agp card (Radeon 7500 or gf2 it says officially). i've read people who were in the beta got by with less than that on the vid card.

anyways, my main box is my laptop right now, 384mb ram, 16mb radeon 7500 and p4 1.7. i figure that should be enough to acceptable run this game at say 800x600? or is the video card a problem...

i dont really want to build a system just to play this game (i do have 384mb of pc100 and a athlon 266fsb board, and my choice of radeon 9700 or ti4200 cards, but its still a pain if it'll work on the laptop, since i lack a hard drive or cpu at the moment).

do any of you who do have it, think it'll run on a 16mb 7500 radeon?

i've seen it played before. Most of the pretties are prerendered, all the sprites and skins dont require a lot of power. i'd say what you have would at least be playable at 640 😛 good luck.

It runs fine on my roommates:
1800+ AthlonXP
256MB DDR2100
Geforce4MX 420 32MB SDRAM

800x600 is the lowest resolution you can choose, but it should work.

i beat you all. It runs on my comp.

P3 550, 256 mb ram, 32 meg video at the lowest detail settings. It runs slow but hey it works.

example 5 mins (superweapon clock) game time is at least 15-25 mins realtime. I don't know if thats how it is for you guys but yeah.

I have a celeron 1000 with 512 megs ram and a gf 3 ti 200 heartily overclocked. I'm running at 1280X1024 (or whatever the hell the second number is). Low detail. It works fine except when you get a lot going on. The resolution for me makes no diff because my vid card is not the deciding factor on performance - the CPU is. 1000 is definitely doable for single player. Your vid card is a bit crappy for it but I think you should be able to play it and enjoy it.

I'm running it on a PIII-866, 512MB ram, Geforce 2 GTS 64MB ram and it runs just fine on low detail, only slowdown is mass tank rushes (30+ tanks) and the nuke 😛

You better watch out for one of the USA missions. It's where a damn breaks and river splits your base. If you make the mistake of sticking to the first base, like I did, the computer stupidly tries to send troops across the river and since they can't go across the river you get several dozen units on the AI trying constantly to pathfind. The game slows right down to a crawl!

Haha I'm going to try this out later on my laptop: P3 700 w/ a massive 8MB S3 Savage IX. Hey it played RA2 well enough, o well i'm not expecting much
