Well, it sparked my interest. The story that goes along with C&C has always been interesting, but the game play never felt like it had much to do with the story (to me). The last C&C game I played was Red Alert 2, and I haven't really enjoyed the series since Tiberium Dawn and Red Alert.

C&C 3 was a relly fun game although I don't remember much about the story itself.

I thought both Tiberian Dawn and Red Alert gameplay captured the storyline pretty well. Tiberium Dawn was better at it though. (Red Alert was the beginning of where they tried to balance gameplay at the expense of immersion.) Each subsequent release tried to increase balance, while destroying immersion, which is alright since it is more of a multiplayer game than a single player game anyway. I still liked the original gameplay the best though, as there were the most effective strategies out of any of the games.

That trailer looks interesting. I may go back and buy C&C 3 again so I can play the expansion. (My daughter lost my DVD, so I no longer have a copy) I am sure that by now the game and expansion are a reasonable price. I will even buy C&C 4 if they remove the silly online requirements, since I have no interest in playing the game in Multiplayer anymore.

Old movie but still pretty interesting.

A NOD/GDI alliance with another NOD civil war Vs. Scrin and Tiberium monsters?

Saw some CNC4 screenies with a Mammoth MK2 and some other legged machinery.

You can tell why PC gaming is in a toilet. They are taking on the hollywood business model of beating a franchise like a dead horse until people hate the franchise and stop purchasing.

The end begins 2010? Haha C&C ended after RA2, the storyline has gone down the toilet and so has the gameplay, i expect C&C4 will be a mediocre rehash of C&C3 on the exact same engine.

Despite your SC2 fanboyism, I have to strongly agree with what you said.

C&C started to die with TS but was revived by a superb RA2... then just failed.

I will pick this up when its bargain bin.

I agree with this as well. C&C3 was just terrible.

But I'm also among the few that loved Generals.

I like the RA story but they started making it so celebrity focused with their cutscenes and it just got so crazy in RA3.

C&C original was the greatest but they have added no innovation or changes in a generic strategy formula and the game just stayed very repetitive.

I do think Generals was a very good break from their original formula and I hope they continue that franchise as a modern day war game.

Tiberian Sun was what killed the franchise.

Anyway, what made C&C awesome was the fact that it was the DEFINITIVE RTS game. Unparalleled sprite graphics (at the time), high quality CG video. They made a killing on that game and (along with Red Alert). After that started making a bunch of random derivative projects that weren't very good, and by the time they got back to their roots they lost that loving feeling.

yep.

However, whenever they release a new Dune movie like has been rumored, EA/Westwood needs to seriously use the hype to make a new Dune RTS.
correction: EA Los Angeles, where some of the Westwood people went.

The Dune RTS games were fun.

Err... Hello? Dune 2000?

Dune 2 was simply breathtaking and Emperor was pretty cool, if a little odd. Cutscenes in Emperor were awesome and Michael Dorn gave a classic performance.

I read many heart-breaking comments here.

I will just move along, after saying that I cannot wait for C&C 4, that is all.

I really wish C&C would adapt the Starcraft business model. Make a realllly good refined game and support it for a long time.

I LOVED Red Alert but even since then every time I try to get into one of the games it's obsolete like a year or two later.

what about Dune 2000?

Emperor was the last Dune game made, and I'm saying I want them to make another.
Are you stating that Dune 2000 helped seed the idea of making the Sci-Fi mini series in 2000? (wiki states game was released in 98)

C&C 3 was one of the best SINGLE PLAYER RTS games ever. The story was great, the graphics were better than anything available, and the units were fun. EA utterly failed with the multiplayer aspect of that game by implementing patch after patch, nerfing units, and not fixing technical and in-game issues that STILL exist. RA 3 was campy and fun LIKE IT SHOULD BE...although I think many of the units left much to be desired, but I still enjoyed the game. Many of the tech issues that C&C 3 has/had were resolved in RA 3... the only real downfall of the franchise was Kane's wrath. It was too short mission wise, but they did add a lot of new units that made the game interesting, particularly the super units. All in all, I am really excited to play the new game... I just hope they focus on the story-based side of the game and not as much on the multiplayer.

Sorry no, I was stating that Dune 2000 was an abomination. A terrible game that disrespected Dune 2 and the Dune series.

Directors Cut Trailer for CNC4. Makes it a little more interesting.
